Kids have rights. Kids have feelings. Kids love BOTH of their parents.
We, as divorced parents, know these things. Yet, it is so very easy to forget this when you're in the middle of a custody battle, or arguing, AGAIN, with the other parent about child support or visitation schedules.
But, if kids could tell you, these are the things they would say:
I'm just a kid, so please......
1. Do not talk badly about the other parent.
2. Do not talk about grown up stuff.
3. Do not talk about money or child support.
4. Do not make me feel bad when I enjoy time with the other parent.
5. Do not interfere with my visits with my other parent.
6. Do not argue on the phone or in front of me with my other parent.
7. Do not use me as your messenger.
8. Do not treat me like an adult.
9. Do not make me choose between my two parents.....for ANYTHING!
10. Do not make me spy on my other parent.
I know this may be hard for you at times. Thanks for showing how much you care about me by not doing these things.
Love,
Your child
